Easy Sweet Treats to Make for Valentine’s Day

February 14th is coming up and what better way to celebrate than showing appreciation to your friends and teachers than by giving homemade Valentine’s Day treats! Provided are recipes of 3 easy no-bake recipes and 1 easy healthy recipe that even fits the Paleo Diet standards!

 

 

  • Pup-Friendly Peanut Butter Bites

 

 

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 30 minutes

 

Ingredients (Makes about 20 Bites)

  • 1 ½ cups of rolled oats
  • ½ cup of ground flax seed
  • ¾ cup of peanut butter
  • ¼ cup of honey
  • OPTIONAL: ½ cup of chocolate chips (Not to be included if it is planned to be shared with dogs)

* Substitution Suggestion* If you do not have rolled oats and ground flax seed in your pantry, you can substitute these two ingredients with 3 cups of Honey Bunches of Oats.

 

Directions

  1. Mix the rolled oats, ground flax seed, peanut butter, and honey in a large bowl.
  2. Freeze the mixture for 20 minutes.
  3. Roll into balls.

 

  1. Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

 

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 50 minutes

Total Time: 1 hours

 

Ingredients (Makes about 16 Bars)

  • ½  cup (1 stick) of butter
  • 1 cup of peanut butter + 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter; keep separate
  • 1 cup of graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 cup of chocolate chips

 

Directions

  1. Line an 8”x8” or 9”x9” pan with aluminum foil. Set aside.
  2. Melt butter in a microwavable safe bowl.
  3. Mix melted butter, 1 cup of peanut butter, graham crackers crumbs, and powdered sugar in a large bowl.
  4. Evenly pour combined mixture into the prepared pan. Let it chill for 50 minutes in the freezer or until firm.
  5. Find a small microwavable safe bowl. Pour in the chocolate chips. Microwave in 30 second increments and stir in between until melted.
  6. Pour melted chocolate onto peanut butter layer.
  7. Chill until chocolate hardens.

 

  1. Oreo Balls

 

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 50 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour

 

Ingredients (Makes about 48 Oreo Balls)

  • 42 Oreo Cookies
  • 8 ounces (1 package) of cream cheese
  • 16 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate chips

 

Directions

  1. Crush oreos into crumbs (a food processor or blender may ease this process).
  2. Mix the Oreo crumbs and cream cheese until it is completely combined in a large bowl.
  3. Freeze for 50 minutes or until firm.
  4. Roll the doughy substance into balls. Freeze until chocolate is ready.
  5. Find a small microwavable safe bowl. Pour in the chocolate chips. Microwave in 30 second increments and stir in between until melted.
  6. Dip balls in the melted chocolate.
  7. Chill until chocolate hardens.

 

  1. Apple Cinnamon Fruit Rolls

 

Prep Time: 45 minutes

Cook Time: 8-12 hours (Or use a dehydrator)

Total Time: A very long time but it’s very easy to make!

 

Ingredients (Makes about 8 Rolls)

  • 4 cups (about 6 small apples) of sliced and diced apples
  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon

 

Directions

  1. If apples are not already sliced and diced, do so.
  2. Line a large pan with wax paper. Set aside.
  3. Pour the apples and water in a saucepan and simmer (medium-low) for about 10-15 minutes. Stir.
  4. Use a blender to transform the cooked apples into a smooth mixture
  5. Pour the blended substance back into the pot and add lemon juice and ground cinnamon. Simmer for an addition 10-15 minutes.
  6. You may now use your dehydrator if your household possesses one and then go to Step 9. If not, continue reading to Step 7.
  7. Evenly pour the mixture onto the prepared pan.
  8. Preheat your oven to 140゜ F. Cook for 8-12 hrs or until it is no longer sticky.
  9. Cut into strips and roll!
